Richboro, PA 18954....with a dash of NYC!

So I moved to Philly...well Richboro actually, in the beginning of April. I must admit that the first month or so was rough, transition-wise because I missed Chicago so much. And although I still miss Chicago very much, I am fairly certain I will return eventually...it just may be after a few stints in Boston and hopefully a longer stint in NYC!

I miss many things about my city from the little things like having a convenience mart connected to my apartment building...truly is convenient!.. or not having to drive all the time, having all the Asian food I could desire in walking distance, my shoe guy Joe at Styl Shoes, hanging out and reading at Argo Tea, roaming around Borders just because, crazy Bikram Hot Yoga classes, independent film nights at the Landmark theatre, $9 salads at Veg-Out, Lake Shore Drive Express Bus to Michigan Avenue, Joys-Thai, Hai-Yen-Vietnamese, The Bagel-Jewish Deli, Duffy's-Black-Out Brunch, Bailey's and Coffee Saturday mornings, and Mimosa Breakfast Lazy Sundays...I could keep going.

I miss big things as well, mainly my friends those that I saw or talked to daily to those that I only got to see every once in awhile but treasured every minute of it. I miss my co-workers and my old apartment building and my doorman Tim. I miss my dentist at the moment, because she was fantastic and I need some work done! I miss my Belmont House "gym buddy" whom I forgot to tell I was moving. I miss throwing dinner parties, and wine and cheese parties, and just because I want to cook for lots of people parties.

All this being said.....I'm loving my proximity to New York!!!! Thusfar I have spent 3 weekends there: 1st , the 5 am weekend, spent with Shannon's highschool friend Laura. We had an awesome hotel in ChinaTown that had heated bathroom floors!...I did a lot of shopping in Soho, Chelsea and Greenwich Village...I very quickly transformed into "Carrie" filming my own little episode of Sex and the City! 2nd the 7 am "weekend"...less than 24 hours was spent in NYC with our personal escort, my step mom's coworker, Stuart. He put us up in a great hotel in the Financial District. We went to posh bars throughout the Meat Packing District, ended up at a random party where there was a throne for a living room chair and a portable hot tub on the rooftop balcony! I drunkenly ordered, and had delivered around 6 am (I heart NYC) 1 large mushroom pizza, 1 veggie burrito, and 1 side of potato salad....I ordered all this for myself....in Spanish!!!We had a lovely brunch at a French Cafe in the same area the next morning. 3rd "weekend" again less than 24 hours was this past weekend for the Sex and the City premiere!!!! I wore my Betsey Johnson Dress, Manola Blahnik inspired D'Orsay heels (aldo silver temse shoes, see and old blog below!) and matching bag. We went to a restaurant/bar called Brassiere 8 1/2 to have dinner (uber expensive might I add) and get a dirty martini (as seen on SatC, Carrie and Stanford get dirty martinis at this very bar!). We then booked it to the theatre where all women and gay men were dresed to the 9's. A few men were dragged along with there significant others, but this was definately girl territory. The movie was fabulous and I cried...me cried..in a movie...I must be getting old and hormonal or something...I also happened to develop pink eye over the course of this trip but that is a sad, sad, painful and gooey story. After the movie we had to stay in NYC until 5 am because we couldnt make the 1:40 train. So we head to The Meat Packing District. We ended up at this bar, The Lotus or Lotus Bar...where we were put on the "guest list", escorted into the bar by the bouncer and immediately were given the drink of our choice...you guessed it, dirty dirty martini's. When obnoxious guys hit on us, I used the pink eye to my advantage! The night ended around 4 am with us heading back to Penn Station and getting the best street meat I have ever had. This chopped lamb and chicken combo with fresh veggies saute in this hot sauce and seasoning served over yellow rice, topped with tzatziki sauce, more hot sauce and jalepenos! We were finally able to get on the train. I passed out, moist napkins covering my now hugely swollen and pusing right eye, using my small jacket as a blanket, faux-manolo's off my sore feet tucked in tight next to me. I'm pretty sure I fell asleep with a smile on my face!
